having problems deciding which skimmer I should get. build will be a 90 g marineland reef ready with sump. I already have the lights and the pumps. not going to use my HOB eshopps psk-100H. going with a different protein skimmer. my first question is difference between AC pumps and DCV pumps. I will either be hooking up a co2 scrubber to it or running an airline to the outside 25 feet with a half inch diameter pvc pipes. cheaper than using hoses. then I am looking at the red sea 600 skimmer, skimz sv227 Oval DC nternal protein skimmer, or reefoctopus Super Reef Octopus SRO-3000INT 8” In Sump Protein Skimmer. Just can't decide. educate me please.

IMHO, any good quality skimmer that is sized for your system will be fine.

The difference between AC and DC pumps is the DC pumps run cooler and usually come with controllers. I quit using any AC pumps years ago. Having the ability to adjust the flow rate is really a nice feature (both in a return pump and in a skimmer pump).

BTW, I use a Coral Box skimmer DC300+ on my 80g system (40g cube and 40g sump/fuge).

I have been using same coralbox skimmer on my 18x18x18 nano with sump for over 2 years. No complaints skims well but may be on the small side for my taste in a tank that size.
Here is an old pic of it in action.
