I have a Skimz SM201 in my system that's 160 gallons total volume. Been running about 5 months now. This thing constantly needs tweaking. I set it, wait 2-3 days, it's skims too dry, I turn the knob a hair, the bubbles raise a tiny amount(just above the neck), I come back the next morning and it's overflowed. I bring it down a hair again, wait a few days, barely anything has overflowed into the cup, once again skimming too dry. And around and around we go. Really frustrating. I did extensive research when I picked this thing for my build. Not happy

I have the 203 and dont have those issues. How old is the tank? How many inhabitants? I would set it up as recommended and let it do its thing.

Sounds like there is a leak. For my reef octopus the red tube needed to be sealed as it was allowing blow by. Resulting in what your going through.

I have the same skimmer, but with the DC pump. With that being said, it should adjust the same way. Mine was pretty much set and forget it. I did find that it skimmed better in when sitting in 7" of water vs. 9". I would do that first and run it with the air valve wide open and use the water adjustment valve to get the water level to the base of the skimmer neck. Once it runs for a couple of days, use the air valve to fine tune the water level. Restricting the air flow should cause the water level to rise in the skimmer.

I hope this helps and good luck!

I'm gona try raising it a little then. I believe I'm at 9" exactly. I'll also try dialing it in again from scratch. Thanks
