It’s been 3 weeks and it has looked like this for the last 2 weeks with no change my water level height is at 8 inches. Does it normally take this long to break in??? It’s a skimz sn143 and I’m wondering if there’s something I’m doing wrong or is this normal with skimz skimmers. This is my first time owning and operating a protein skimmer

How new is the tank? I think mine at first too quiet some time but after the tank was established any time I cleaned the skimmer the micro bubbles would stop in a few hours.

I think the manual gives you a depth range for the skimmer, try running at a different depth within that range.

Oh i never thought about the tanks establishment. The tank is barely 3 months old

Must be something else because my skimmer was working properly within the first month of my tank and I used dry rock and dry sand. I'd take a stab at playing with the skimmers depth a little. I also heard a vinegar bath can help take off the factory layers faster too though I've never tested this.

It doesn't look like it's pulling in enough air. Is the tubing feeding into the pump intake clear?

Tubing doesn’t come crystal clear but i see the bubbles come from turbulence some go up and others get pushed down and then flow out the back. right when the skimmer turns on the bubbles start to go up and then once they hit the water line some go down

I tried to take some pics of the skimmer turning on. The bubbles go straight up for the first couple seconds then some start to rush downward? How weird is that
