I have a RO 110sss running right now on my 40b and its pulling pretty good skimate. Not super dark though when dry skimming. I keep turning the output up but the skimate color still stays the same. The main thing I don't like is there's not much adjustment to it as far as air to water draw ratio.

I've found a heck of a deal on a Skimz SN123 for $125. That's brand new with warranty. Don't really care about the pump being DC but I like that you can adjust the water and air separately. And it has a skimate drain on the cup.

The RO draws more air than the Skimz but I assume that's running it wide open. But I could be wrong.

Anyone owned both or ever compared them?

Sorry, I can't comment on the skimz SN123. I just received my brand new RO 110 SSS today :). Quick vinegar bath and plunked it in the sump, first impressions even though it isn't run in yet, is it has exceeded my expectations. I am getting about the same colour skimmate from the RO right out of the box (but "creamier") as I was getting from my year and a half old Coralife 65. I expect aftwr a few weeks break-in period it should do much better.

You could simply put an airline valve on the air intake hose to dial down the air if you wanted to adjust it, I would think.

I picked up a 3/8" nylon threaded pipe to hose barb adapter today and will be drilling the collection cup to install a drain hose after the weekend.

Cheers!
