Skimz Sumps?

Hi guys, anyone have any experience with the skimz sumps?

I'm looking at the skimz up18 sump and would like to know how you guys think of them, build quality etc.

I have the UP34 on my system. For the price I really like it. There are a couple things I would change, like a bubble trap between skimmer section and return section and remove the built in ATO reservoir (not something you need to worry about on the 18) but build quality was good and I've had no issues.

Thanks for the quick reply, what would you say is wrong with the bubble trap? Does it not work as well as expected? Or what would you do differently there?

Also have you been able to find where to purchase the extra skimz filter socks?

For the bubble trap it basically doesn't have one. I'm using a skimz monzter skimmer and after a week of break-in there really isn't much for microbubbles anyway but if you look at the picture the flow from the skimmer to the return chamber flows right through, no official over/under bubble trap. Like I said, not a big deal but I think would be better with one. I bet you could make one with a piece of acrylic if you wanted though...maybe my next project

As far as filter socks I haven't even tried looking yet. The socks are a mesh filter sock, not felt, so they clean very easily and quickly by turning them inside out and running under tap water. Bulk Reef Supply is kind of the Skimz master dealer. They carry all the spare parts for their skimmers so I bet they could answer that question.
