My Naso died after 6 days in QT. Initially it had a few small abrasion looking scratches on its side.

Got lethargic on day 4-5 and then those markings seemed to spread. Dosed Prazi but it was too late. Tried a freshwater dip and couldn't see flukes jumping off.

Thoughts on what that is?

Dang. Not a single guess of what those white abrasions are?

Just keep bumping somebody will see . Try this eve when a lot of peeps are around. I couldn't tell ya what it is for sure & would like to know also.

Looks like your fish's scrapes/cuts turned into a gram negative bacterial infection for it to have died so quickly.

Seems logical bc it happened so fast. I wanted to observe until it started eating before medicating.

The puzzling thing is it went from looking like it had a decent weight to emaciated in 3 days. My ammonia badge showed nothing and I have a ton of flow in my 20g qt.

Granted, part of the darker stress coloring may have amplified it.

The thing with these naso tangs is that they often get shipped to the store like this. They tend to do about 50/50 when they arrive. They either get over it on their own, get treated and get over it, or they don't make it no matter what. I think it's a mild bacterial infection caused by small scrapes (not to mention stress too) from being caught, shipped, held, caught, shipped, held again, caught and shipped. I see so many Naso Tangs come into my shop like this that it's very easy to not want to order them anymore.

You know, i just went into another LFS this afternoon and noticed one of their two blonde Nasos had those skin abrasions.

Should I proactively treat with antibiotics if my next one has those abrasions?

You could, but it may be better to try an acriflavin bath first then into a nice clean QT. There you can concentrate on getting it to eat well, adding vitamins to the food for that extra boost. Keep the antibiotics on hand and ready just in case though. You really have to see the fish and how it's acting and eating and make the call on the antibiotics in the moment. The bath is always a good idea no matter what though with these guys.

+1 ^^^^ exactly that. Meredith has vast experience with fish in these various conditions.
