Hey everyone, just trying to find out why some of my ZOA's are doing this. The skirts on some look like they're just disappearing, or being eaten or something. I've never seen nudis or asternia (sp) in the tank, my fish don't pick on them, my water parameters are good...I'm lost. Any help or ideas would be great. I use red sea pro salt and rodi water.

Some tangs could do that too, like the Purple Tang, for example.

But if fishes aren't touching the polyps:
Bacterial infection, most of the time.
They turn white and look like they're shrinking, in some cases disappearing completely.
Sometimes it's almost impossible to cure that!! Very sad!
I would try a Lugols solution or a Furan2 dip.

Add 3-5 drops of Lugol's solution in a 8-10 oz container with tank water for 3-5 minutes.
Rinse off the plugs with clean tank water in another container before returning to the system.

OR

If you want to try Furan2, normally the recommended dosage is 1 cup of water for 1 capsule of Furan2.
Some people leave the polyps for up to 20 minutes. I recommend like 5 minutes.

Good luck!

Grandis.
