I bought two tangs a little over a week ago, a purple and a yellow. The purple seems to be getting used to the tank. But the yellow tang is still very skittish. Any time I come up to the tang he hides and won't come out.
I have watched from afar to make sure he is eating and not acting strange. He eats like a pig and swims around just fine. Nothing seems out of the norm....except when I'm close to the tank. Even when I feed the tank, he hides until I walk away.

So discussion time! What's the longest time it has taken a fish of yours to get used to his new surroundings and get used to YOU? Have you tried any tricks? Did they work / not work?

Mine was about a month.
My first ever saltwater fish was a blue-green chromis and he always hid between the glass and a piece of PVC I made a cave out of.

He would start coming out after about 2 weeks but would hide for hours if I came into my bedroom.
When I got my clown pair (who sadly died from Brooklynella 2 weeks later) he came out and swam in my presence. But when they died he just always hid again.
