skunk shrimps dead in two hours. ????? idea's

So picked up a pair of skunk shrimp last night at the lfs. I asked her how to acclimate them and she said same as you would fish. Mix half the bag water with half your tank water and let them hang out in it for ten or fifteen minutes.
Both shrimp were dead in under two hours!
Parameters are
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
Po4 .15
Ph 8
Salinity 1.025
Cal 400
Alk 9
Mag 1200

So did I shock them to death? I don't think she was right about animation. Any ideas?

I really only ever drip acclimate. my vote, that was too fast.

What fish do you have? How large a system? Any crabs? Could be acclimation time. Could be just unhealthy shrimp. Did they have full bellies?

In my opinion it's best to drip acclimate shrimp for 30 min or more then float bag to bring temp up before introducing to your tank.

Definitely acclimation, IMO. Inverts get dripped for at least an hour.

Sad to hear that, but I also think acclimation was the key factor. I dripped acclimated mine for about 45 minutes.

I had a similar issue a while back and I had a copper problem. I ran poly filters for a while and all good..

think acclamation was the issue as well. I'm new to this but I should have asked you guys or at least researched it before I bought them. My fault. Hate losing critters not to mention $$. Next time I'll research before I buy. And thanks so much to all for the help. This forum is invaluable!

The first invert in my tank was a peppermint shrimp. I floated the bag for about 15 minutes and then put it in the tank. He has been kicking for over two months now..

yea, I have had mixed success with this too. but. IMO better safe than sorry. esp with a turbo, e-gads the stench.

Do you have any other inverts in the tank? If not there could be copper in the water/tank causing them to die.

Always drip acclimate IMO, inverts are sensitive to water chemistry changes. I would ask for store credit, or two new shrimp IMO you were given bad/wrong information from the woman at you LFS. Sorry this happened to you.

I've never been struck by lightning before, but I still don't walk around in a thunderstorm carrying a big metal rod.

My 2 fire shrimp floated in a bag for 30 min and then I dumped them into the tank. Snails and crabs go right into the tank no acclimation [emoji85]Never lost one. Fish I acclimate for 45-60min.
