Our new home was built with several skylights in the ceiling...unless I wanted to stash my new tank in the unfinished basement, there's simply no avoiding them or the light they cast.
As such, a lot of natural light spills into our living room where I have just added my new reef tank. What are the negative ramifications of this? In the past, I did have a reef system near a window with no visible impact...
Anyway, I would say it receives somewhat near direct sunlight for @ 1 hour...but there is a good bit of soft, indirect lighting coming in from above during the day.
My concern would be excess algae growth I guess....If this is indeed a concern, can good husbandry mitigate this? Temp. fluctuations not a concern as tank is on a controller....
I had planned to have my actual lighting cycle start @ 3pm via Nanobox Duo...ramping up....so that I can enjoy the tank when I arrive home @ 6pm until bedtime around midnight.
