"Slam Dunk" method of Coral Acclimation

Wow im honestly surprised at the number of people that use the "slam dunk" method. Guess i need to get with the times .... for those of you who dip whats your opinion on coral Rx vs coral revive?

Hey everyone I wanted to bring up a discussion point I am pretty interested in. I recently came across an article on reef builders where Jake wrote about coral acclimation, or lets say lack of acclimation. I became extremely interested as he even talked with Julian Sprung on the topic. I will throw the link of said article up here for everyone to review, but what is your take on this?

I have been in the hobby for awhile and come from the "old school" method of drip acclimating everything (yep even do it with fish)... I have always done this, and to this day continue to do so as I feel the slow changes are less stressful. Im curious though if what I am doing may be somewhat redundant, and in fact could save myself around an hour and half by going "jordan" on those corals ....... so without further ado

WHO HERE "Slam Dunks" their coral directly from bag to reef? Lets get a discussion going on experiences, pro cons etc.

Didn't I just read on this forum about a fish die off because of parasite brought in on a coral? Seems risky to me but I may be kidding myself that dipping helps.

IMO I think the coral revive and coral RX work great! I don't know how to use bayer but if I did I would also! I haven't had any parasites eat any of my corals yet...jinx on wood it never happens

The "slam dunk" method I'm talking about would involve dipping corals... i realize the reef builders article he didn't dip, but I would dip everything no matter what. I guess the aim of the question was mainly seeing who skipped acclimating water parameters, and just went with dip and drop into tank.

I temp acclimate, THEN DIP IN BAYER, then once the dip process is complete they go right into the tank.

I do the exact same thing for corals.

Fish depends on SG

I temperature acclimate my corals in bag and then dip and swish around using Revive. Then just add to tank. Corals expel whatever water is inside of them and then take in your tank water. They acclimate themselves. As far as fish goes, I temp acclimate, then drip acclimate them until the salinity matches normally about 2 times the bag water volume. Then catch by hand and introduce into tank with lights off

For SPS I temp acclimate, always replace the plug, and dip. If the frag came from a tank with similar alk, then I drop it in. If there's a bigger than 1dkh difference I drip acclimate.
