So we are at the bare beginning. I live in a 670 sq. ft. apartment many floors up (not ground floor). Attached below is a photo of my living room. To give a bit of perspective, the couch is 100 inches long. The length of that whole wall is 18.75 feet.

To begin this build, I need to consider what to get/how big to go. I was thinking the MAX I can do is Red Sea Reefer 250. Nothing bigger, and you guys may think that's too big. Originally I wanted the Sea Crest 35 Drop-Off tank but I really want to go bigger if I can. Then again I don't have a lot of space to deal with.

As far as WHERE to put it, well I was really thinking about moving the tree and red chair away and I could but the tank there either flat against the wall or sideways so it sticks out a few feet into the room, blocking the couch and kind of separating that living room space from the dining area I took picture from. Or I could take the chair/tree out, slide that desk to the left, and put the tank in that corner under the painting.

I considered over by the window on other side of tv but that's (1) near loud tv and (2) gets hit by direct sun - so no-go.

Have you checked with the landlord about having the aquarium? Sometimes they make you take out flood insurance. As far as placement, here's some other things to think about. It helps to have a sink and/or bathroom close by. You can dump waste water and skimmate down the toilet and it's so much easier to clean small stuff if a sink is close by. If you have a RODI unit it's helpful to have that close if you can. My RODI is two rooms away from the tank because that's the only place it would fit. But lugging 5g buckets of water gets old. Also, you're right to keep it away from direct sunlight. As far as placement, I'd put it against the wall. The floor is probably more stable there and I don't know if you want a room divider in an apt that size. Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks for the advice! Well I own the apartment so I have homeowner's insurance as anyone else would. I guess at the end of the day the good thing about a small apartment is no matter where I am, the sinks are close by ;)

Hardware has begun to arrive. In addition to this, I have 10 lbs of dry rock (going to need quite a bit more), heater, return pump, bioballs, another Radion on the way, Micro ATO, 5 gallon jug either for water changes or an ATO reservoir, salt, test kits, red sea mature pro kit...off the top of my head. Getting excited!

What size tank did you go with? Picture?

I'm going to go with the Red Sea Reefer 250. Funny enough that's the part that's holding everything up the most - I have to wait until my floors are renovated in a month to buy it and then it's go time. So while I wait for that I am buying all the other hardware, medications, etc. and planning everything out/educating myself as much as I can. Can't wait to get started.
