Question, I’ve read gobbys don’t tend to get ich, should I qt gobbys before going into DT? I just recently received some fish from reef beauties online. They look excellent

I’ve had great luck with Reef Beauties myself! Good to hear you had a good experience.

I would always QT. Gobies can carry disease just like anything else. If anything, gobies and wrasses can be the worst Typhoid Mary species because of their thick slime coats hiding symptoms of parasites until it is too late.

Yes I do, currently I’m using 2 ten gallon tanks, for 4 fish. 1 is a tomini tang, a golden face gobby, a powder brown tang and a foxface rabbit. I ordered a red knobby starfish as well. Reef beauties seems to be a great company, free shipping after $160 and packaged well. I picked up a 40 gallon breeder tonight from petco for a QT tank to replace the smaller tanks and next thing I know the new tank was leaking bad out the bottom corner. Sucked to say the least, never had a new tank fail. So tomorrow I’ll try it all over again. I’ve yet to add copper power, I wanted to give the fish a few days to adjust from shipping

Yes. Good idea to let them adjust and get them eating unless you are already seeing symptoms of something. Then do your usual Copper Power and General Cure routine as I do too.

I would continue with your plan and QT all of them. You won’t regret it. What you would regret is if you put them all in your DT right away and get ich 1 week later .

Reef Beauties can’t be beat in my book. Especially if you QT your fish yourself. Their fairy wrasse selection and pricing is pretty killer. I have 4 fish in my main tank from them and would purchase from them again for sure.

What’s your routine QT? Copper 14 or 30 days than general cure all for how many days? This is my first QT. I learned the hard way with getting a tang 6 weeks ago without QT. Lucky I have no coral.

I don’t use tank transfer method, so I treat with 2.5ppm Copper Power for 30 days while also feeding food mixed with Seachem Focus and API General Cure and Garlic for 14 of those days (check out Humblefish’s recipe). I treat proactively for internal parasites just due to some bad experiences and haven’t had any issues doing it while fish go through Copper Treatment. Then I’ll dose General Cure to the water following the instructions on the container after that to get rid of any flukes. I have found it is more gentle of Wrasses than Prazi Pro and I love Wrasses.
