Slight film growing over zoas

Hi,

A few of my Zoas haven’t opened for a about a week, it appears that there is some very faint film growing over them. I have other zoas and corals in the tank that are all doing great so because of that I’m assuming it’s not a parameter issue. It’s just a few polyps on this one colony that are staying closed and there is definitely some sort of growth over them.

I am not 100% certain but I believe the issue is spreading a bit and there are more polyps closed up with this film over them compared to last week.

Any ideas on what this could be?

Have you tried giving them a gently blow of water with a feeder?

Very gently just to get some loose debris off. I could try a bit harder to see if it will push this film off if that’s recommend

Dip in a chemiclean dip if they deteriorate.
1 cup tank water to 1 spoon of chemiclean, two spoons max. 20 mins. Baste couple times to remove the film. Gently use a qtip if needed for larger film if the basting doesn’t work. Rinse. Put back in the tank in high flow.
Otherwise just move to high flow after basting residue off.

I've never used chemiclean before. Is it possible to do the treatment in tank? The corals were epoxyed / glued to the rocks and a couple polyps appear to have started to grow over the rocks so im hesitant to pry them off.

Also, do you think this film im seeing is because the flow is too low?

Chemiclean dosing in the system is possible and I’ve done it for this issue that was more widespread. Same chemiclean treatment for cyano.
It does alter your microbiome and negatively impacts a wide array of bacteria. I do not recommend fixing one zoa when that will screw with what drives a healthy reef.
It’s very likely bacterial as it is impacted by the chemiclean.

Ok thank you, I will try and pry the plug off the rock then
