Hi all

So in the first chamber of my sump is my skimmer. There is a bubbly slime on the surface. Just wondering what this could be?

Could be oils from fish food and coral mucus.

To me that water height looks too high in that skimmer chamber, but that's JMO.

Is the return off? Looks like it's about to overflow! If not, I believe that red knob is supposed to be above the water line.

If you don't lower the water, or raise the skimmer, you'll need a powerhead to swish the water surface around down there. Usually the skimmer output pushes water around but yours is to far below the water line.
