Hi all. I am still new to saltwater aquariums and I would appreciate some help. I just found a sringy slime hanging off aquarium heater cord. It is where the clown hang out. My notifies and ammonia are 0 ph is 8.15. I have just added a torch, zoas and a frogspawn that appear to be happy. Can anyone identify the slime? I have sucked it out and put into a container. Thanks in advance. I put it in a Salifert test vial

Hard to Tell from photos, do you have a surface skimmer, could be mucus from your new corals adjusting to your aquarium parimaters ?

Hiya, thanks for getting back. Is more like a mucus. I have a bubble magus curve 5 running. It was just like hanging off the cord flapping in the flow. It's where the clowns host, so now I am convinced they have brook or velvet. I have had my nose pressed to the glass for a good hr now. I feel like the female clown has spots, but no other symptoms and they are only visible faintly under blue light, so it may be her scales. I'll just keep an eye on her and the rest of the tank. I just keep scaring myself. Might be a stringy poo because I am feeding new food 5 times a day for the cleaner wrasse

Just to add, there is no lethargy, clamped fins etc and everyone is eating just fine and behaving as they usually do

Think I have my answer

Cleaner wrasses sleep in crevices between rocks or corals, covered in a slime layer that is secreted at dusk. In the morning these can be seen floating on the surface.
