I have some green hair algae, but it has turned kind of slimy. Is this a result of the higher magnesium I raised my tanks to?
1500 mag.
450 calcium
8.1 ph
3.5 meq alk
under 10 no3
under .25 Po4

It's not due to the Mg level. I run my Mg at 1400 all the time and once had it at 2000 (due to bad advice) to get rid of another nuisance algae.

That do you have in the tank to try and control (eat) it? My little scopas tang never lets any hairy algae get a foothold in my tank.

Hello,

I recently have developed a few rocks with hair algae and not sure what to do. Didn’t help the gyre was covered in it and I didn’t clean it. Well it’s sparkling brand new looking again after soaking it in a vinegar bath for a full 24 hours. Even then I had to scrub it down like no other lol. I have tons of tangs, and bristle tooth tangs, I assumed they would graze on it.
