Slimy White Growth on GSP

Hey everyone. Over the last few days one of my GSP frags has been covered in this thick white/clear growth. I can’t blow it off and wanted to get an ID before I manually remove it. I noticed it small around the base when I received the frag and dipped the coral but though it was just some leftover super glue. All of the sudden it started growing and has now covered the coral. Can get a better pic later with the lights on if needed.

My immediate thought is some kind of sponge.

Safe to remove? Any idea on what can cause it or how I can get rid of it/keep it from spreading?

Just pull it out of your tank and toss it.

Yeah, given that it's overgrowing your coral (and because GSP is common/the frag likely isn't doing too well), I'd probably pull that frag out of the tank and just replace it entirely. Most sponges are harmless, but generally you don't want one that grows over corals.

Looks like it's overgrown by algae as well. Get a soft bristle toothbrush and give it a nice cleaning
