So I am downsizing from a 125 to help with the possibility of moving in the future. So I started with drilling the tank for a Synergy Shadow overflow and a 3/4 return line

With that I will take from my current system, most of the live stock and ADHI refugium (until I have time to build a new one), ReefAngel, bubble magus curve 7 and a D.C. Pump. I plan on making it as neat and nice looking as possible. There is a lot of inspiration on here for that!

Next is building the stand. I want it tall so we aren't bending over to look into it.

Going to follow this thread because I want to drill a 40g Breeder too next year

Very nice ghost overflow. Did you drill the tank yourself? Curious as to what made you decide to have the return come through the glass versus going over the rim of the tank.

Cheers,
Alex

I, personally, would like thr cleaner look and be able to have an easier time covering tank without cutting acrylic.

Yes I did drill it myself. In total took about 20 minutes. I like the clean look, not having to worry about the siphon breaking and with a bean animal setup it should be extremely quiet. As well I will be able to use screen tops later that don't need special areas cutout.

That does make sense and agree at least for those who run topless. I for one always run a canopy regardless for the aesthetics of the display as a whole. Not to say rimless tanks are ugly. :)

Cheers,
Alex

How far does the rear box stick out passed the back of the tank?

Awesome thanks..Let me know how loud it is once you get it up and running. In the market for one myself.

Not yet. It will be soon. I have neglected the tank with my wife's and my wedding and a subsequent travel as a kind of Pre honeymoon. But am actually on the plane back home now. I will be building a stand and having it set up hopefully before the end of the month. Should be quickly as I am moving everything from my 125 over. Stay tuned

No update other than colored pvc is on order and I finalized what I'm doing for the stand. Also I got a electronic stirrer in for testing. Love this little thing. It's from sr aquaristick

I got all the plywood cut. Using 3/4 cabinet maple. First stand I'm doing with no 2x4. Should be interesting.

I have built 5 stands so far but all have used 2x4s. But I am looking to over build this with a lot of bracing, pocket hole screws and wooden dowels.

Got a good start on the stand today. Wait for glue to dry. Need to hand the doors and get another sheet of wood for the floor.

So I am back on it and close to completing the stand and painting

I reinforced the floor a little bit..
