This has been in the planning for a while, a recent cracked tank brought it back in to focus.
I have most of the sandbed in tubs in the sump of my main tank, the contents are in the tank!
It was a 14 G aio cube, that sandbed was about 10 years old.
The tank is a 170 litre max, all opti white (low iron) glass, custom made braceless 10 mm glass, I built and installed the weir.
It is currently somewhere under brambles in the garden!
I went and picked up the stand today, picture those back to back making a cube shaped stand.
Not decided on the top yet.
Looking at the loadings I should be able to easily sit 35o Kg on that once spread, I have a mate in work who is a structural engineer, he helped me design the steel frame for the twins, I will show him the figures tomorrow!
It will be an island that I can walk around with a bit of a work shelf at the front.
(That is the plan anyway, I need to take a few more measurements).
It will be run from day 1 as live, give or take as it will be filled from the big tank but with new sand.
... I know, it's a frag tank but because it it is an aio it needs a heart the contents of the 4 tubs in the sump will go under the new sand. It was run like this before with no waterchanges, this will be getting a 25 litre water change once a month and additives as needed!
Lighting might be the old Razor 3 puck, still to be decided.
Circulation will be a flat out Eheim 2000 through a spray bar, if I can keep the substrate in place a 3000, that might do away with needing a power head.
