Slow / Fast Tissue Necrosis help

I'm unsure of the tin. Sorry I did mis that.

Do a search , Randy Farley tin. And see if you get an article.
@Randy Holmes-Farley There is a poly filter in the tank, could the tin levels from icp-analysis be within their margin of error? What is considered "bad" tor TIN levels?

I'm afraid something is slowly leaching in your tank.
Your ICP test shows it in the metal part, even though the numbers are small but we all know how sensitive SPS can be.
You CAL is on the high side as well with over 500, of course that can be a one time event but not good for SPS.
Would like to see what @Randy Holmes-Farley has to say.
Advice is to use a detox (triton) for a few times and send in the ICP test again if no improvement something ain't right with maybe a magnet or just as simple a penny.
What size tank and how much flow?
What salt you using and how long after you mix it you do the change?
Do you like flavored popcorn or the regular kind?
Did you test your newly saltwater?
I would also hand test your ALK for a few days to see if big swings appear.
Don't think we dealing with a pest although vermite can't upset coral and cause poor PE but don't think it causes RTN/STN
For now stay away from SPS for a while like 3 months or so and try a small cheap frag on a rack at first in 2018.

CAL has been 500 for a long time and has remained with water changes. How can I decrease it? It reads 500 manually too

I completely emptied the sump 4 weeks ago, with no metals found. I cleaned all powerheads 2 weeks ago and did not find any rust or broken magnets, I keep my hammerhead glass cleaner in the tank, but checked it for any damage 2 weeks ago. Nothing is visibly rusty or broken. What else could introduce metals?

The full system water volume is 400G, however the The 6ft x 36 x 24 deep tank has 2x Coralbox QP-16 ( Else mode, facing lengthwise on alternate corners, 2x MP40, 1x MP60 all on back wall, 100% ReefCrest,
Do you like flavored popcorn or used the regular?
Theres no popcorn in the house
What salt you using and how long after you mix it you do the change?
Using Aquaforest reef, mixed for 2 hours
Did you test your newly saltwater?
for Alk, CAL, MG, Salinity, yes

Have done, and still manually test every 4 days. It tests in-line with the KHG. My largest swing is 0.3DKH in a day

Have you double checked Salinity? Sodium looks high but might be nothing.

When I had these issues it was PO4 instability, GFO has killed more corals than PO4 ever will. Put a stressed frag in the tank and then swing PO4 by a few points and they will up and die. My personal solution was to use a single drop of Lanthanum daily (I use PhosphateRx). I could never use GFO without swinging PO4 all over the place. Once I started using PhosphateRx I could keep and grow acros and it's been working ever since.

I never had success with Vermetid snail and wrasses. The only thing that has worked for me is manual removal. I've also never seen them cause that much damage to a coral before. I had a massive one attach itself to the plug of one of my frags which kept its polyps from extending, but no necrosis. It was a big guy too...

@saltyfilmfolks, @mdbannister, @Sabellafella do you guys have any input?

I hate them =/ but ive had a couple acros that get very irritated from them, but then i get something like this at some point(if they grow over them).. you have to just deal with them, im sure some anglefish may find them as a treat. Other then that theres a species of sea slug that eats them too.

Question,
Have acros previous been doing good in your tank is they always have been doing this?

They've always been doing this. Initially I thought it was Flow, then Alk instability, then Light. at this point, im almost ready to throw in the towel.

I don’t know if this is the reason mine was doing it but I had the same issue I changed lights that didn’t stop it I added flow, no luck i checked all parameters daily to check consistency. I checked the tank at night for pests and to no avail. Could not figure out the problem well I had a birdsnest left that started to stn and in a last ditch effort I stopped carbon dosing and the birdsnest started growing back. I guess I had some sort of bacterial infection that was being fed by the carbon. Or it could have been a coincidence

I tried stopping carbon dosing at one point with no positive results. Right now im down to the Tin as mentioned by @Diesel and then if that doesnt fix it, a broad spectrum antibiotic. The question is, which one, and do I dose the whole tank?

Could vermetids cause this though? I see the same pattern with acros, Milles, and Montis ( 2-3 weeks of great PE, then no PE and death). as I said, lights were repositioned and intensity increased just before buying this piece, which came from a tank with LED lighting.

I have also tried sourcing from different stores, with no change in luck

I don't think they would cause necrosis. I have a ton of snails in my tank and the sps grow into them, basically making a snail with an sps shell. That being said, I do hate the snails and they do affect polyp extension. It becomes less of a problem with colonies.

I had a BLASTO colony with a bacterial infection that was dying and used a furan 2 dip and it has recovered. I can’t promise it will help your situation

My fear is that IF I have an infection, its in the water column / rocks, not on a specific coral, as I have gone SPS-less for 2 months in case it was coral specific.

Not sure if this is relevant, but sps and rtn went hand in hand for me the first year my tank was up and running. My lps were all thriving so I kind of just stopped searching for a reason and stuck with what worked for my tank. Eventually, after about 3 years I decided to try again just one little frag at a time. Today, they are all doing well. I didn't notice how long your tank has been running, but maybe the maturity of the system can contribute to success. I know over time I haven't changed much but parameters really began to stabilize nicely once I stopped trying to address every possible issue that could be contributing to the rtn. :)

Just hang with LPS and softies for now.
Something is in the water that is upsetting your SPS.
Use a few detox treatments and try again in January.
Christmas is coming and spoil the family with your fun money and leave the tanks as is and only do water changes for now.
And of course feed the fish.
Just remember just cause it ain't working it will never work.
