Is there a way to decrease the amount of RBTA splits? I got one less than a year ago and as of yesterday I now have 5. Would love to see one or two get bigger but they split before that can happen. Tank is 1.5 yrs old 75 gallon mixed reef and all are happy and healthy.

Stop feeding them.

From what I understand they split when fed to much

Hmm that makes sense. I don’t direct feed them but have upped my feeding and types of food since adding my CBB. The nems always catch some white worms that float by and have split twice since I added the butterfly

If you don't direct feed them, what exactly do you feed your tank. Please share experience. I didn't have luck to keep nems (I fed them Reef-Roid and shrimp). Tried three times and all failed.

I haven't directly fed my nems in almost 2 years. Biggest is around 13" now from baseball size.

Besides not directly feeding them, there's not much you can do.

Some anemones split often, Some split seldom. I don't know if there's a rhyme or reason.

Keep the water levels stable especially with salinity. They split when stressed.

mine also seem to split if I feed or an anemone goes into the power head.

My nitrates run ~10, Alk 8.5 which May help. I feed 2-3 x per day. A mix of PE Mysis and TD Chromoboost pellets, frozen Spirulina brine, Mysis and Blood worms. Live white worms and shavings from frozen, fresh clam. I usually do one of these for a feeding. All fish eat all of these things w exception of CBB which ignores the pellets
