So I've had Fluval Evo 13.5 gallon tank running since January and have been enjoying it immensely. It's my first saltwater tank, and I've had no issues with it aside from some diatom and my LFS giving me 7 gallons of RO when I asked for salt (THAT was not a good day).

My current stock includes:

1 small leather coral frag
2 different kinds of zoa (green and orange)
2 gorgonians
1 hammer coral (which has not been happy since the previously mentioned RO incident)
1 kenya tree
1 neon green toadstool
1 odd little mushroom that attached itself in a dark cave
A bit of daisy polyp
a few small ricordeas
some dragon tongue macro algae
A Hawaiian feather duster
A few hermits
2 margarita snails
1 bumblebee snail
1 yellow watchman goby
1 scarlet skunk shrimp
2 ocellaris clownfish

....yes, I know that the last one is a big of a red flag. My family wanted clowns so badly, so I went ahead and got a pair. They're doing VERY well, but I know that their presence means that I'll need to upgrade soon. And that's why I'm posting here today.

My current plan is leaning toward a 55g tank with a 20g sump/refugium. I'm planning on having rock work positioned primarily on the two sides, and after 6 months-1 year I will be adding a green bubble tip to one side, and a rose bubble to the other. These two obviously limit what I will be adding (the scarlet skunk and watchman in particular will remain in the evo), but I wanted some ideas for other fish that would be safe to keep with bubble tips. I'm a bit paranoid of waking up and finding fins sticking out of an anemone oral disk. Was also wondering if 'ya had any advice for sump/refugium critters? At work we have a pistol shrimp living in one refugium, and I thought that it was kinda' cool to have critters running around down below.

Thanks in advance for any/all advice that you may have!

Bubble tip anemones are one of the smaller anemones. And nothing really bothers anemones because of their sting. I don't think you have a problem with that. And I've had a 14 gallon with 2 clownfish, a basslet, and a chromis for a long time without any problems. So I wouldn't necessarily rush into it. With that being said what I would look into is a cube tank instead instead of a 55 gallon 48x15x24 I believe just because I've had 55 gallons before and they just don't have much depth. A 24x24x20 or 24x24x24 would be an awesome tank to have, especially if you plan on having a reef. That's just my two cents but I would strongly consider either getting a cube tank or all in one that's larger like an innovative marine or jbj or even Red Sea tank. Bubble tip anemones aren't as aggressive are carpets or long tentacles where they are able to catch a fish swimming a couple of inches above them. I've seen carpet anemones eat large fish whole. Are you planning on making your own sump or buying one? Because Eshopps 3rd gen sumps are amazing. I had the r-100 and it has a built in refugium compartment that was specially designed and based around certain flow and the needs of macroalgae. If you have any questions about products and recommendations on sumps and skimmers. Feel
