So my tank has been running for almost two months now. The tank started to have a algae problem which killed alot of my corals and is covering the rock. The algae looks to be hair algae but i don't know. What can i do to stop the algae growth. Here are some pictures.

It looks like hair algae. Can we start with your parameters. Feeding, live stock, tank size, lighting schedule, water that you use etc. Gives an idea where to steer!!

I just got done testing my water and all my parameters ( nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, ammonia) are 0 ppm and my ph is 8.0. I feed new life spectrum 1mm sinking pellets 3 times a week. My tank is a 55 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump. My return is pumping about 1000 gallons per hour i have two powerhead on the back one and a wave maker on the size wall. I use instant ocean sea salt mix and i use ro water. I run my lights about 10 hours a day. I have one small clownfish and 5 turbo snails.

That’s strange. Now I have done this on Freshwater tanks and lots of discussion here for saltwater as well.

As you don’t have Corals it even if you do: try this :

Brush the algae, do a 15gal water change, then a 3day black out & then another 15 gal Water change. That should starve the algae due to lack to light and cleaner salt mix. Sometimes we can’t measure the nutrients as the algae may be taking up.

Also what rock ru using??

Pretty sure you won’t stop it, but it won’t last forever. Manual removal, stable parameters, regular water changes and lots of time.

Did you cure the rock before setting up? Like others said it is probably nutrients coming out of the rock.
