Small brown tree'ish thing in my sand?

I was looking around my tank this morning and had to flip an astrea snail over that got stuck. when i did this i noticed something growing in the sand. what is it and should I leave it be, sump it, or hit it with the flamethrower? Second photo for size.

If its in the sand, you should be able to lift out. Pic is too blue to identify. Please take pic in white light

sorry about the photo before hopefully this helps. it doesn't look like any type of aiptasia I've seen pictures of but I'm definitely no expert.
