Small bugs on hammer coral?

I've noticed these little bugs congregating on my hammer frag for a while now, and I am curious if anyone here has any experience with them and/or an ID.

Sorry for the grainy pic/video, they are the best I could capture with my phone. :\

I captured a few and brought them to my LFS where they shrugged it off and said "looks like pods". However, I'm not convinced they are quite so benign, and any info would be greatly appreciated!

Is there any way to take one out to try and get a detailed picture of it? It looks to be a type of pod to me. I'm leaning towards phliantidae sp.
