Small clams?

I will keep an eye on both. If anyone knows of another online vendor they would trust let me know.

I'm in Colorado and have shipped multiple times to Wyoming... or you could porch pick up if you drive I'm about 10 miles east of Fort Collins. I have 2 available currently.

Curious as to why nobody suggested a squamosa? I think, the squamosa, crocea, or maxima would be a fine choice, but not the deresa as somebody suggested. Although I believe the deresa is the most hardy, it is also a fast grower and the OP does not want that.

I would guess since they also get fairly huge.

OF the clams species, the one that will outgrow medium size to large are T. gigas (mine grew from 2 inches to 7 inches in 1 year), T. derassa (mine grew from 2 inches to 5 inches in 1 year) and T. squamosa. Squamosa can easily reach over 10 inches in 5-6 years.
For Medium to small tank T. crocea, T. maxima and T. noae are the species to keep. They do need very high light, and stable water with high alkalinity and Ca to do well. IMO, the most beautiful color, and suitable for small aquariums, even 20 gal, would be Crocea. Beautiful Crocea are hard to find and not inexpensive. I was lucky enough to get these, which I have look for similar for 10+ years. All are doing well in my tank.

Crocea and Maxima. The larger blue one in the 2nd picture is Maxima, the others are Crocea.

Gigas

Same Gigas 1 year ago and a Derasa

I got my latest Crocea from Algae Barn and it came in quickly and very healthy. Highly recommend them. You could get the clam pack they sell that has the phyto and a nice clam rock.

Which grade did you buy? I feel like the clam packs (with the phyto and cradle and everything) are a pretty good deal which is kinda sketching me out about the quality of the clam itself. My tanks aren’t very big so when I get a crocea I want to make sure it’s worth the real estate it takes up

That makes sense completely. I got the Ultra. I got it during a 25% off sale they had not to long ago.
