Okay well yesterday I noticed my one small clown was breathing pretty hard and was hiding in a patch of GHA thats growing on the back glass. I was feeding them before leaving for work when I noticed so I didnt take him out right away and set up a hospital tank. I got home last night and just couldnt find him. Figured I would look this morning when the lights come on but theres literally no sign of him. Sucks cause him and my female clown were my first fish I put in my tank. All my other fish are doing okay so I'm not sure what could of happened to him to begin with.

hi,sorry to hear, keep close eye on all other fish for any signs ;)

Yeah I'm gonna keep an eye on the other fish especially with how it happened so fast. As of now the rest of the tank looks healthy. I just want expecting for him to totally go missing. I know CUC are notorious for helping with the disappearance of fish but all I have are two emerald crabs and a cleaner shrimp so I didn't think they alone would be able to do that unless the crabs dragged him into a crevice of the rocks

If it doesn’t come out for a feeding, grab a flashlight and begin a search
See if other fish seem plump from scavenging in carcass

It wouldnt even come out for a feeding yesterday when he was hiding on the back glass in view. I just took a turkey baster and blasted through the rocks and behind them with no luck. Only fish I have that might be capable of this would be my melanaurus wrasse which he always looks fat cause he outcompetes everything else at feeding time. My other fish are a diamond goby, firefish, blue mandarin, algae blenny, and my female clown. I should of took him out yesterday but I just didnt have time I was literally leaving for work when I noticed him having issues yesterday.

Sounds like it was weak and declining
Did you notice any erratic swimming or breathing behavior?
Any hazy, milky appearance to its body?

He was breathing hard. As far as swimming he was just laying in one spot on the back wall about 2/3 the way from the bottom of the tank. Looked as if he was sleeping if that makes sense but it was the middle of the day which was strange in itself. His skin looked okay though, no milky color or spots that are usually associated with ich and velvet.

Fast breathing indicator of low oxygen, parasite, brooklynella or even aggression

If it was aggression from a tank mate, is it possible he jumped out. Have you searched behind the tank?
Sorry to hear about this. I love Clowns, probably my favorite fish.

I have an acrylic top. It does have a few places its still a possibility but unlikely. I looked around the tank but not extremely good. I plan on doing that tomorrow. If I dont find him by this weekend im sure I wont ever find him.
