Hey guys, so yesterday I added 2 small clowns to my evo and this morning noticed one of them struggling a bit to escape the slot where the protein skimmer is. I've unplugged the ps for now.

Is there anything I can do about this? I didn't think it was that strong where they might get sucked in..

Were the fish quarantined and acclimated to the tank before you put them in? And what do you have for surface agitation to mix oxygen into the water, looks like both jets on your return are pointed downwards.

Acclimated bag in tank for about 30 minutes then drip for another 30 minutes.

The lfs said I wouldn't need to quarantine since they've been at the store for a good amount of time and were healthy.

Surface agitation, not entirely sure.. I just have those two jets. Should they not be pointed downwards like that?

Thanks for the help!!

I have the same tank. I keep one nozzle pointed downward and the other up enough that it is making a ripple on the surface. It actually shoots water up a little and makes a great sound.

Okay great, I just made that change. The tank is a little over a month in now

I wouldn't worry too much about the clown. They act really strange at times.
I remember my first clown I thought it was dead about a dozen times... they sleep upside down, swim upside down, stay close to powerheads like its an anemone, and will lay against an overflow like yours is doing. As long as its eating you should be ok.
It is most likely being bullied by the other clown which is normal until they figure out who gets to be the female.

How are you battling that algae situation

clowns r very hardy and can sometimes act quirky, thus the name "clown" fish. they can handle strong water flow and sometimes look like they're swimming/struggling endlessly in the same spot.
