Hi everyone,

i seem to have a massive population of small white critters in my QT setup (non-medicated). They seem to reproduce on the glass, but i also see the white spots moving on the fish.

Excuse the quality of the image, its really hard to focus onto something thats sitting on the transparent glass.

Size of the bugs is approx 0.5 mm.

Just harmless copepods, or something that needs intervention?

Looking forward to your thoughts!
Best,
Christoph

Can you back up and get another image. Honestly I have no idea what I am looking at. Does not look like Copepods and you should not see anything crawling on your fish.

what is in your tank? can you stand back and take a pic of the whole tank? how long is the QT tank up? how did you cycle QT tank?

Hi,

hope that video helps:

These animals are definitely on fish (gobies) aswell.

Best,
Christoph

This QT has been running since april, and was treated with CP for a few weeks. Its unmedicated for several weeks now.

It contains PVC-pipes, a sponge filter, a little bit of sand.

Inhabitants: One mandarin fish, one wardii gobi, and a gobidon okinawae.

Best,
C

They look like pods (Copepods or Amphipods) to me. Nothing to worry about. They are actually good.

Yea but how they actually for in the tank? from the sand? Was the sand new life sand or did you pull it from your tank?

They look like amphipods to me, but if they are crawling over the fish that is more isopod-like behavior.

CP is typically gentler on inverts than, say, copper. I bet putting a wrasse in there would clear those things out, but not a good idea treating a wrasse with CP. o_O
