i have a smaller sump under my 24 inch cube . whats a good budget friendly skimmer that would fit while also leaving a small area for a fuge ?

The Bubble Magus curve 5 is a budget skimmer from a well known company that I think is appropriately sized for your tank. It's just a little over 7"x7".
I also know that tunze generally have smaller footprints but not quite as budget as Bubble Magus.
I've never used a skimmer from either of those companies but I only hear great things about the tunze skimmers.
You can go on the website for Bulk Reef Supply and it will tell the size tank a skimmer is rated for and it will give the footprint as well.

I ran skimmerless for a while before but that was when I was a lot better at water changes I miss the days of the old hang on remora skimmer lol . I’ll check out your recommendations

+1 on the curve 5. I have it running on a 65 long setup. I ended up needing a new pump but that was easily swapped with a jebao 2000 skimmer pump. Very small footprint.

Just thought about this now. If you do end up getting the curve 5 or actually any bubble magus skimmer, take the oring on the collection cup off. Theres no need to be wrestling with the cup every week to take it on and off. I've been without the oring for a about 6 months couldn't be happier with the one hand removal.
