Seems like most FOWLR tanks are large aquariums; curious if anyone has done smaller (under 90 gallons, I guess?) FOWLR tanks? If so, please show a picture and tell us what fish you had in there.

Ive had all big fish when it came to fowler but always seemed little by little coral were added and back to mix reef.
This tank began as a fowler - 135g and I went to RAP and came back with coral:

I've seen smaller FOWLR tanks at 55gal before. It's more about the fish you want to keep than the size of the tank.
The larger ones I have seen are typically with chillers and are predatory tanks, but not always.

most non reef same fish seem to be bigger. not all but most. so that's why we go as big as we can.

that said there are a ton of beautiful smaller fish. I love wrasses. I tank full of smaller wrasses would look amazing. just skip the 6 line there jerks.

37 gallons. My first tank and only a few months old.
1 Clown
1 Firefish
1 Coral beauty

My 75-gallon porcupine pufferfish tank with a lemonpeel angelfish, melanurus wrasse, and white tail bristletooth tang. I know I will have to upgrade but for now everyone is on the smaller side.
