I've found a couple nudibranches (very small, less than a quarter inch) on my zoas throughout the last few months. I've managed to get them out of the tank, but I was wondering if it was necessary. It seemed as if the polyps would only stay half-open....by observing, this is how i saw the first nudi. They were too small to capture a picture of with my phone. Do you think these could have been innocent hitchhikers or was it a good idea to dispose of them? Thanks

I'm new to this.

Shawn

Let's put it this way, I don't know of any nudis that are indispensable or of great benefit to have in a reef tank, and if they are zoa nudis, you don't want to let them continue to live and multiply.

thanks Nanofins. I haven't seen any in a few weeks. They are obviously pretty easy to catch moving along at 0.0000001 mph...maybe less. haha

I to have found a wack of nubi's lately, that's why i got a halichoeres wrasse to do my dirty work. Beautiful wrases they are.

Kill 'em all.

Nanofins wanted to say it but chose the eloquent route... The only nudis I like in s/w are on a quiet beach!

Several years back I found some in some zoa's in my DT. Looked them up and decided they were baby berghia so I returned them to the tank. Then I turned to the next page and learned my mistake. Never saw them again while losing a small collection. After several months without zoas (they don't seem to eat palys - at least not mine) I was able to restock without problem. The upshot to them is they are very specific in their diet. And it teaches you to dip dip dip. If you see adults in the dip then keep dipping - there are eggs that most dips don't kill.

I love it Tampas

For now on I'll just remove them if they show up!

thanks folks. I read and learn and want all to also do the same, then pass on the knowledge gained as well.
