One thing that I don't understand, and frankly bugs me about the new AI light app is the fact that the individual color channels go past 100% (petty issue, I know they are good lights). Whats the deal with this, this has to be a gimmick right? There is no past 100%, once you hit 100% your maxed out. As someone who played sports all the way through college, the statement on giving 110% always drove me nuts. The only thing I can think of is if this is a comparison to something else.. Someone please explain for me!

Its a feature of the new light. I believe it diverts additional power from the LEDs that are under powered. Is your point that it does not actually impact the channel going past 100%?

its because you are overdriving those particular chanels, taking power from another and sending it to say UV to get it to 128%. if you notice, you can never go past a certain threshold for wattage.

They are made in such a way that if not all channels are using 100% you can use that extra on other channels. But, you could not run all channels over 100% at the same time. That is my understanding of it anyway.

Thank you all for the clarification! I know it’s a stupid thing to be annoyed with. But yes the idea of going past somethings 100% output just makes no sense to me.

I felt this was applicable. I feel your annoyance haha

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

That's correct but what the OP is pointing out that if you can go higher you weren't at 100%. I have noted that some colors can go further beyond 100% than others. On my Hydra 52, 138% is as high as you can go on blue but royal blue will go much higher.
