Hello,
I’m looking to set up a small refugium with a 10gal tank for a 29gal tank. I plan to do this when I move sometime this summer just looking for some pointers now. Main question is would a 10gal be enough to make any significant improvements to water or to culture any pods? Also what would anyone suggest for setups for my first refugium? Anything helps and is much appreciated!

I have a 23gal that someone told me a 10 gal sump would be a "Waste of time" but turns out they were completely wrong. What are you looking for "setup" wise ? Buying one or building it?
The great benefit will be a place that you can let algae grow (which the copepods love) without your DT looking like a mess. Just don't use any mechanical filtration like filter pads so the pods can get swept away into the DT.

Yes....I sectioned off a small portion of a 20 gallon sump for a chaeto grow area and it helped with dropping nutrient levels in my 29 DT.

Don't skimp on the lighting, but obviously be budget minded. I put a small Home Depot plant bulb on my area, a stronger bulb would grow more...as long as the nutrients are present.

Thank you for your fast replies! I’m looking to build one of my own I have another tank that I upgraded from a 10 to 20. I always had the idea in my head of setting up a refugium but having the extra tank now is pushing that idea more. For setup wise I’m just looking for recommend lights, sealants, separators, (if they will help at all) filters, and anything else that will be good to add.
