I would like a beginner tank setup. I have a patient , a 15 year old boy with muscular dystrophy, that would like a saltwater tank. I have a 29(?) gal bowfront tank but no stand that I would like to set him up with, but it doesn't have a stand. I've been looking at stands and they are around $100 to buy, or I could build one for probably around the same price. But I also am thinking about buying just a whole setup for around $150 , if anyone has something like that I am interested, and it's going to a good cause. We would like around a 20-40g tank, don't have room for a 4ft 55g , but would like something large enough for a couple clowns and maybe a nem down the road.

Thanks in advance guys.

The larger the tank the easier the maintenance. And the greater the chance of keeping a successful tank....sorry im at work so don't have time to go further into details but I am sure someone can help you more.

I gotcha, I know, just don't have the space for a big tank. I think I've found one on Craigslist , it's a complete setup says 50g but looks to be more like 30g cube, complete setup with stand heater filter for $100, it's in Springfield though which is a little haul but, I may be able to get it.

For that price it may be worth it
If you teach him the importance of measuring everything exactly like amount of salt and what not he should be fine with a small tank
I'd suggest fish only, some live rock dusters, the more hardy stuff
Unless you keep a close eye on it I suspect the beginner to let the nitrites get to high
