Small tanks

Hi I'm new to saltwater and have had my 5g tank set up for about 6 months was curious if a tank that small needed a heater. The temp on it stays between 70-72 all is living in my tank but my clown fish did get ick and die would that been the cause. I know on a larger tank you keep tank up in temp but was told on this little one i didn't. Any suggestions?? Thanks

You would probably have better success with a heater. If you are not maintaining a higher ambient temperature in the room of higher than 74 then I would add a heater. Set it to 76-78 and not worry about it. Pico heater below.

Yeah, a heater is important. I'd keep it around 78-79 if you can, unless you plan on keeping cold water species.
