The past couple or months my sand has been accumulating what I can only call tumbleweed algae. It’s about half a centimeter wide and looks like a ball with spikes or a baby sea urchin. They accumulate all over my sand bed. I have been siphoning them out during water changes but it seems they keep multiplying. Any idea what type of algae this is?

The tank is over two years old. Not having issues with any other type of algae at the moment.

It might not be algae, but could be Majanios, they are invasive. Keep removing them!
When in doubt..........take it out!
