About 2 years ago my main 160 liters ( ~42 gallons ) reef tank suffered a major reef crash. After a few years of work something went terribly wrong in a matter of days... Till this day I don't know what caused the crash. Just one day I woke up and the tank was all cloudy. I didn't think too much of it, I thought it was just a bacterial bloom ( it happened previously ). Later that day all of the corals closed up and everything looked really bad. After seeing that I've added activated carbon and did some water tests ( NO3, NO2, dKH, NH4, PO3, etc ) nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I thought I would see the next day what would happen because it was already late in the night. Next day the corals looked much worse so I decided to do a big water change. While doing the water change I felt that the water had a slight lemony/sour smell. After the water change the tank looked a bit cleaner. But in the evening when I came back home It was exactly the same as it was one day ago. At that moment I decided to take the corals out and placed them into a few buckets with fresh saltwater. Long story short all of my corals unfortunately melted in 2 days after placing them in the buckets... Till this day I still don't know what caused the crash but I suspect it was something bacterial. After this whole experience I took a break from reefing.

Now I am thinking about starting a really small pico tank with the volume of around 12 liters ( ~3 gallons ). I have an AI prime 16 HD for lighting but I still don't know what pump to use. If you guys know any pump for an aquarium of that size please tell me. On thing to have in mind is that the pump needs to be dead quiet ( the tank will go into my bedroom and I can't stand any noise ). The price can be around ~110 $ but I just want it to be silent. Coming back in the hobby feels nice since I have always missed having a reef tank the last few years. I don't know what is it but having a small biodiverse marine ecosystem stuck with me.

- Best Regards :) -
