The lfs I generally shop at has ocellaris clownfish like any other that look quite happy and healthy. Recently I was in a new area and stumbled across a new lfs that had clownfish smaller than a dime! Maybe this is a common occurrence but it got me thinking.... Would there be any benefit to buying a pair that small? Wouldn't they still pair up when they're in the bigger 1inch range? I just felt like it would be extra work to take care of such a young fish but maybe I'm wrong.

I bought 3 clown fish that were smaller than or about 1 inch long. They were tank bred. It was hard to take carer of them. They had a hard time adapt to the current, waves in my reef as they were in a small cube and the flow was minimal. Harder to feed them as the food don't come straight to their faces......and the smallest pellets are not as easy to distribute to the bottom of the tank where they hid. I suggest you keep them in a small cube until they are big enough....

And yes they will pair up, if they make it. there will be 1 bigger and turning female..
