Smart buddie ro/di booster pump & permeate pump??

I have a 150 gal RO/DI from BRS and added the permeate pump, what a difference that made! waste water cut down to less that half what is was. Now I've purchased a Smart buddie booster pump. (hasn't been delivered yet) Has anyone used a booster pump in conjunction with a permeate pump? Is it feasible?, or would it be over complicating and counter productive? Over thinking in this hobby has truly just cost me money in the end..

I had a Smart Buddy for 1 day to replace a traditional booster pump. If you have experience with an RO/DI, it will infuriate you.

I run a booster pump in concert with a permeate pump. They perform two separate functions.

I have a smart buddy and it works well enough, although it could use improvement. It boosts the pressure to a little less than 80 lbs according to my gauge. It is much quieter than my permeate pump was. (I still have it hence my question below). I run two RO membranes with 2 pre filters, 2 carbon blocks due to chlorimines and 2 DI canisters. My DI depletes much faster since I move due to CO2 in the water supply. The big improvement I would like to see on the RO Buddie is a much longer flush time. City water here is 390-410 TDS going into my membranes. The shot flush does let’s too much high TDS water through. I manually flush until the TDS drops to about 10 or 11. It takes several minutes not 30 seconds.

Please explain how you use the two pumps and why.

They are both booster pumps.
One uses electricity, the other uses the waste water line to build pressure.
I don't know if both are necessary

Booster pump sits between the last pre-filter and the membrane. It increases the pressure in the line from 'household' to '50'.

Permeate pump sits after the membrane but before the DI and builds up the pressure on the outlet. For me, its used to fill a holding tank, but it also has the affect of reducing waste water.

Ok thanks I guess I do not have a premeate pump. I thought that was what old pump I have was called.

Permeate would have 2 inputs and 2 outputs. Booster has 1 input and 1 output.

Did you ever get this set up to work for you? I’m also wondering if I could run both the smart ro buddie booster along with a permeate pump, but I’m struggling to figure out how to correctly set it up.

How did you setup the smart buddy booster to do a manual flush?
