I'd like to get a smart Heater for my new aquarium. Now I know a controller can make almost any Heater smart, but I'd like to to try having a bunch of independent smart devices instead. I was thinking about a Finnex 800 watt with the accompanying controller for it. Any feedback on this or other smart heaters? I like this one as it has a lot of min and max temp controls and an audible alarm.

I've seen what feels like a lot of heaters. For general usage, I have yet to see an improvement on the basic glass tube Visitherm/Jaeger with an integrated temp sensor and control. Use those on another controller if you want extra protection, but I've literally never had a problem with one. They come with a lifetime warranty for a good reason. ;)

(Not because they are unbreakable!!! That's a whole different thing for a whole different use case. I'd use a Lifegard Heater Module if this was important to my installation.) Treat em right and they last! :)
