So, I have a GHL controller and to be blunt... It can be a real pain to program certain things. So I'm looking at an alternate way of doing things and was wondering if a Smart Socket would do the job.

Basically, I want the socket to turn on an item 15min after it gets power. So, I want my skimmer to start up only after power is applied to the socket and after 15minutes has elapsed. I know this sounds like something that would be simple to program.. But in GHL.. it's far from simple.

I know Reef Octopus makes a delay socket but it's set for 5min. If I can't find a better solution I might go that route.

Why not use the blackout period inside the socket for the switch channel takes only a second to configure and requires no advance programing

I know you said non GHL just wanted to make sure you were aware of the feature :)

Do you want to plug it into the GHL, if so a WEMO smart plug and place the rule on that, I believe will also work :)

Hey Ditto, I thought about that. But posted in the GHL section. So I don't muddy the waters here lets go to the GHL section and talk about GHL options.

Sorry :), saw the other post a wemo plug may work for you then :)

ACK, I replied to the other one... I know it seems like a double post, But I'm asking GHL specific questions there and Open Smart Socket questions here.

Looked at the Wemo website and nothing in the description says it can delay start a socket.

I have no idea if this will make much sense - Hard to describe, but i do something similar as you need for a few of my appliances using TEKIN SMART PLUGS that sync with the SMART LIFE app on iOS.

Hopefully the images show this. Its all done with conditions and IFS but what the images hopefully show is that you can create conditions for if POWER EQUALS then run task DELAY to whatever time you set before power comes back on or off..........I basically monitored the power the app says the device takes then run a condition based on this. Ive never used GHL so couldnt say if this is anything alike but its fairly simple to understand and toggle some switches.

I currently use them to detect no power but have previously set a delay on my TUNZE pump to 15 minutes after my SKIMMER receives power from another outlet. The only issue i would imagine could be is that im not sure if it will detect power to the same socket as the condition is set but i have not tried this.

Im in the UK so no idea if these plugs are available to you either.

Hmm, I'll have to look into that. Thanks!

Bumping for a different crowd to see if others might know or have used something similar.
