This might seem like a stupid question but can I feed my lps coral smoked salmon ( the kind you get from the supermarkets) I know some people feed it to their fish but I am researching what and how I can feed my corals and the thought just came to me

what GIF

I don't think I'd use smoked salmon because it's likely salted as well, and may have other preservatives added.

However, I did used to feed both my corals and fish frozen chopped clams. The container said they were 100% natural with no additives. Everything seemed happy but I switched to frozen cubes because they are more convenient. But the clams are definitely cheaper. It just became a hassle to scrape them out while frozen.

I started feeding a blend of shrimp, clam, mussel, squid. All 100% fresh. No preservatives.
With a bit of selcon and garlic powder.
I also throw in some live brine, which i am not even sure they eat. They are so tiny.
I would stay away from anything processed.

Ok thanks for the advice my lfs have loads of live brine every week so I think I will go with that when I’m feeding my corals

Anything from a store that comes from the ocean can only be natural that you add to the tank.
No smoked, no roasted, no additives.
You can make your own frozen cocktail. Go to the fresh fish market at your grocery store and get 1 shrimp, muscle, oyster, fish, nori, fish food, a little salt water from the tank. Blend it up, put in Ziplock bag, flatten it so it's thin, stick it in the freezer. Break a piece off to feed the fish. You can also add other coral vitamins, amminos, ect.
