Smooth's 29 gallon build!

Good luck with cycling. Post up a pic of your rock scape when you get it in.

Added unions to the plumbing to make any maintenance job issues easier.

Will do! Reef Cleaners sent me 6 large pieces of rock. I'm going to try and work with it. If not a hammer/chisel job will be in order to make a few of the pieces smaller.

Emptied the tank today and got working on aquascaping ideas. The 12" width of the tank is proving to be a headache. This layout is not final just yet. Approximately 20-25lbs of rock.

Yeah, that's probably what I'm going to have to do. Break it up into smaller pieces in stick it in my return section of the sump. I have no fuge section.

Ordered the Red Sea coral pro salt! Should have the tank wet by the end of the week now. Just for the sake of posting pics, took a few more with flash, came out much better. (never mind the two very small pieces of rubble which are out of position) As you will see, the 12" depth leaves little room to maneuver.

I just started using the coral pro salt and so far I love it.

Got the tank started!!! Used instant ocean salt. The coral pro is taking too long to get here. Added 40lbs of live sand. Half samoa pink and half a much finer grade. Added 25lbs of reef cleaners dry rock to the display and a 4lb piece of live from the LFS. Another 5lbs of dry is in the sump.

Im also running a HOB filter to help with the cloudy water. Will remove the filter in a day or two.

Instant Ocean is fine. I have always used it. It is very near natural seawater but if you expect to keep coral that will use a lot of calcium then you will want one of the "reef" salts.

I have red sea coral pro on the way. I heard that was a very good salt too. Im going to keep mostly zoas and lps.

I also heard Red Sea pro is a good salt. I have mostly LPS and mushrooms and a clam and my calcium usage is not real high. I use tap water so my water would have more calcium than RO/DI but I only add about 10ml of alkalinity and 10ml of calcium from my 2 part every week. I'd probably even dose less if I used a different salt but I am accustom to IO.
