20180305_194537.jpg 20180305_194556.jpg 20180305_194603.jpg My snails have been like this for a couple of days. No idea what is wrong atm. Please advise.

Do you have hermits in the tank?

There's a hermit in photo #1.

Astraea snails have a strong tendency to fall off of whatever they're climbing on, and are incapable of righting themselves - which leaves them wide open to predation by hermit crabs, who then have an endless supply of shells to move into. I'm not really sure how Astraea survive in the wild, frankly . . .

Yes I do.

They usually right themselves and carry on. The one near the glass just stopped. The one on the rock was the correct side up. Noticed it was upside down. They have been like this before. Why are they doing this? Were all over the tank at one point and never did this. I have a starfish that lives in the sand and eats all the sand garbage. Did it take all the algea from the snails?

Depends on type of snails that you have. Some snails eat different forms of algea others don’t eat algea at all. You may have a case where the snails are starving to death in your tank as well.

How do I know what i have then? Good question. About to do a water change anyways. Nitrates high again. So is my cichlid tank. Fresh water is easier. Lol.

I am a firm believer that snails are among the most annoying parts of a reef tank, every morning I either have to right a snail, a coral the snail tipped over, or a combination of the two.

I think they are to but an essential part of the tank

Well, one of each snail. To bad they don't have plecos for salt water. (Algea eaters for fresh)
