Not sure if this is the right forum for this but - anyone have any idea how long it takes lets say a 1 inch cerith snail to completely decompose? I've been having and algae outbreak and am pretty sure some dead snails have been causing it. I found a dead cerith half buried in the sand yesterday so i checked the tank at night to make sure my other ceriths were ok but nothing came out. pretty sure theyre all dead in the sand now.

To answer your question, it depends on the CUC/tank. If the snails are dying that wouldn’t be causing algae to grow.

sorry im still sort of new to this. I thought that dead snails turn into ammonia, nitrite, and then nitrate which would then fuel the algae?
