Snail hasnt moved in days.

My one astrea snail hasn't moved in a few days. Should I move it or wait a few days? The other one in the tank is always in a different spot. My nassarius snails also aren't out and about every day. I don't have any hair algae in the tank but I do have a decent amount of diatoms (which it says they eat).

By the way he's been in the tank for a few weeks at this point so it shouldn't have anything to do with a new environment.

All of my other inverts are definitely getting enough food. Usually overfeed a bit and check sandbed daily to make sure the food that falls to the bottom is being eaten which it is.

where is it? They cant move on the sand, so if its on the sand it could be dead. If its on a rock I would just nudge it to see if its attached to the rock

It's on a rock, just not in a great spot for me to get to without moving some rock. That's why I'm wondering if I wait a couple more days or check now. He's toward the sandbed but still attached the rock, unless they can hold on after they're dead.

What is your magnesium at?
High magnesium can make snails lethargic and stop moving. Eventually, it can kill them.

Well then it probably isn’t high magnesium.

It may not be moving because it’s already dead. Did you drip acclimate it?

It's been in the tank for weeks. All my other inverts are fine. The other astrea is fine and moves frequently. I think I have to try and get it out tonight if it still hasn't moved by the time I got home.

I use tongs or an acrylic pointer to flip them over when they land upside down. I would make sure it's still alive, as a dead one will add unnecessary nitrate to the water eventually. The smell test works here.

Not in my experience. If it is suctioned on a rock, then it should still be alive.
