I bought a few snails from the LFS and one had a misshaped shell, or so I thought. I was doing a water change the other day and it was right near the top of the tank so when the water level dropped it was completely out of the water. I could see a small separation at first but it started opening up the longer it was out. I was really tempted to try and pry it off but I figured Would ask the group first.

I’ve seen them called slipper limpets. It’s another organism attached to the snail shell.

Agree on limpets and reef safe algae eater

I guess I'll leave it on and see if the snail can shake it off on it's own. There's a divot in the shell where it sits so I'm not sure it will be better off without it.
