Following along...but are you sure it's not just cleaning dead/dying tissue that's being caused by something else?

No, all the colonies dying snails were found on them. Even took a piece out along with a snail and watched it liquify it during consumption

Can you give us a relative size? Looks like it could be in the family Pyramidellidae. Big family, though.

There have been other people who report seeing snails possibly eating their acros. It's tough to definitely prove that it's the snail and not some sort of microscopic process though. But, it's possible that it's the snail. I have no idea what they are.
